The young lady turned aside and standing right beside her in the elevator was Oluremi Tinubu….. That was a wow moment
All she could say was wow and took a selfie.
Another young lady stumbled into fashola at an airport lobby years ago and immediately after saying WOW, started sharing with him how he could reduce traffic in lagos by creating some unique cuts on some Lagos roads. Fashola invited her to the government house for more talks.
What Are YOUR Doing With Your WOW Moments
That is, those times that you are exposed to extraordinary events or experiences?
do you turn them into stories for entertaining others or do you see them as an opportunity to transform yourself?
Some shepherd when Jesus was born were visited by Angels. imagine the experience of being visited by hundreds of angels and seeing them with your own eyes.
the angels talk to you and tell you that a new king has been born that will revolutionize the world. You go to see the baby and find him exactly where the angels tell you he will be.
But after all these extraordinary experiences, you go back to your normal sheep watching and the only thing you did with the extraordinary encounter is use it as a story to share with others.
None of the shepherds tried to make drastic career changes or mental shifts from the experience. They all went back to life as it were for them before the encounter.
Most of us are like the shepherd. We daily or weekly have once in a life time experiences but all they remain to us are just experiences we convert into stories.
I remember years ago when a wealthy importer told me how he started his business by asking for samples and selling the samples. Immediately after listening to him, I deployed the same tactic with a pharmaceutical manufacturer in India and from the samples he sent was how I built my first company
But a lot of us get experiences and just saw wow moment. For instance
A young man had the privilege of sitting next to Aliko Dangote on a flight and all he did was take a selfie with Alhaji that he shared with his friends. He didn’t ask Alhaji what are the changes he would advise a young man to make in other to thrive in Nigeria. It was a wow moment but he missed it
And for you,
You went to church yesterday and listened to some inspiring message. You enjoyed the extraordinary session but today you are back on your seat in your office doing exactly the same thing you were doing before listening to that message.
But there are people who have the extraordinary experience and notice it for what it was and grab them immediately.
John the Baptist once pointed to Jesus and said to his disciples that guy is the Messiah and while others said WOW, two of the ie Andrew and John immediately left John the Baptist and went after the new bigger opportunity they saw in Jesus.
Life will continuously send us opportunities and we have the choice to be part of those that saw WOW and continue our mundane life or decide to b part of those that see such WOW moments as a turning point for our life
